Bring Journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee Home
Former View co-host Lisa Ling spoke this week about a phone call from her sister, Laura Ling, who along with her colleague and fellow reporter Euna Lee is being held in North Korea. Both women have been sentenced to 12 years of hard labor on charges of illegally entering North Korea to conduct a “smear campaign.” As if anything they could write could possibly be worse than the realities there.
From what I’ve read about North Korea’s kwan li so prison system, this sentence sounds like a nightmare.
As a journalist and a woman, my heart goes out to these women. Let’s pray that President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can be effective in employing diplomacy to bring them home.
