Saudi Air Space to be Cleared for Israeli Preemptive Strike?

Over the weekend the Times of London reported that unnamed Saudi government officials have indicated Saudi Arabia has taken measures to enable Israel to use Saudi airspace for a preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Read about it here.

Ha’aretz reported that these claims were not accurate, however.

During a recent trip to Israel, I interviewed Ephraim Sneh, Israel’s former deputy defense minister. I told him that when I interviewed former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton last spring, he had discussed the possibility of an Israeli preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. In our interview, Ambassador Bolton sketched out several scenarios, including what he termed the “worst case” scenario, in which Israel “tries and fails” to significantly set back Iran’s nuclear program.

Sneh replied, “My estimation of our capabilities is higher than Mr. Bolton’s.”
